new ball specs

In your opinion, is it important to have the cg, mass bias and pin in line?  I hope I'm not delving into the hated cgnomatta conversation....

It all depends. If a layout calls for the mass bias to be swung way out, how in the hell are you going to do that if the mb is even with or left of the cg-pin line?

If the cg pin and mb are inline with eachother then that's ok.  If you choose a lyout that has the mb swung to the positive side you may need a balance hole.  If the mb is left of the pin and cg line then you may have trouble with a layout that is swung right.  I prefer if the cg is swung left of a line drawn from the pin thru the mb.  This way when I swing the mb to the right I can keep the cg close to the center line and don't need a balance hole.

The Seek and Destroy I have, I drilled the pin above my ring with the Mass bias down and right of the thumb and that put the cg right in the middle of my grip.  Hopefully this will still be an aggressive drill, without starting up too early.

This is all new to me too. The only marking I even recognize is the pin. I just purchased a used bowling ball that looks like all three are in a pretty straight line. If any of you can look at this and tell me how you'd expect this ball to react, I'd appreciate it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7201410664&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

Tony, I had the xxcel drilled almost identical to that layout, & on my house shot it went fairly long & made a left hand turn. Mine was a 14# ball & the differential is pretty high. Anyway that's a pretty strong layout.
