Pin 1" of VAL reaction?
« on: March 06, 2010, 11:40:00 PM »
Hi guys, I was wondering if you guys have youtube videos showing pin 1" of VAL reaction with variable Drill angle, If you do have it mind sharing it?. If not, care to explain the reactions of varying the drill angle :
Assuming that the Pin to PAP distance is the same e.g 4".
1)  pin 1" to VAL with 90* drill angle
2)  pin 1" to VAL with 70* drill angle
3)  pin 1" to VAL with 50* drill angle
4)  pin 1" to VAL with 30* drill angle

My current assumption is that from no 1 to 4 the ball will hook latest - med - early roll as the drill angle get smaller. Is it correct?

You dont have to be "Micheal Jordan" to be a coach.

You are correct. Which one would be best for the bowler depends on his tilt, or size of track. The lower the degrees of tilt(0-10*), the higher the drill angle. The higher the degrees of tilt 10* and up), the lower the drill angle.ie a high tracker with little tilt(large track diameter like 12-13 inches) would do best with something in the 70-90* range. A spinner with a high degree of tilt(small track diameter like 9 1/2" would do better with something like 25-45*. The drill angle(or mb placement) controls how much and how soon the midlane hooks.
