Ok cheeker time for bed!

Ah yes!

Now where was I?

Oh yeah, local guy good bowler has a shop at home.

Now I will tell you this is a big guy with a large hand and some strong action on the ball and he really has some carry!  I mean can you say all over with lots of honor scores!

But I always admired his carry and revs and touch.

When I first met him he had a shorter span(than a Bill Taylor standard).
Let's say last joint hits the far end of his fingerholes.

Well this is when he carried.  I said now how do you position thumb.

He said we position everyone as much left for righties(or lateral pitch OUT as a person can take without clipping fingernail).  We also use as much forward as we believe they can stand.

Now this is the setup that he has thrown all these big games with!

SO the last week I've seen him and noticed many low games lack of carry etc.!!!

I said, "hey how you bowling?".  "He said more up and down than usual!"

I watched now he is really struggling at release, toppin, droppin and in general not able to get around the side of the ball.

He also noted, Yep I lengthened my span a bit!

I knew there was something different!

You see when bowlers go way shorter than Bill Taylor to the middle of 1st and 2nd joint instructions to the back lip of the finger holes or inserts then thats where these lateral out pitches DO work!

You see I saw this guy test for a Coke bottle and he was not lateral out but 0 to 1/8 under!

Summary, those with a very relaxed almost semi fingertip span can do these not coke bottle pitches and have to go forward from the charts to get a strong hold on the ball.

On the otherhand .... Those on the other side of the fence using the true Bill Taylor span.  Final test is that the ball in backswing is felt near the last joint but not on the flat of the finger pad and then on DOWNWING one feels shift of ball to FLAT of pads then they have the right span and pitch.

These people with the true Bill Taylor span in general must follow the coke bottle test results to get the proper pitch to both turn the ball from the fingers getting aound the side of the ball and setting forward reverse to prevent the ball from getting off too quickly.  It is with these properly spanned balls that one must then follow the Bill Taylor coke bottle test for lateral and setting forward reverse is easy too!

Go Bless,

Luckylefty

TTT

Well my post at first was really crazy, screwy and inaccurate I was VERY sleepy!

NOw it is right!

This guy bowled better with a short relaxed span and lateral out!

Now he is still lateral out but with a longer and more proper span and is bowling like crap.

Needs a lateral under thumb pitch with his new longer span.

What do you mean?

What is relaxed to you?

I read your profile and you have left me confused on your right left pitches for your fingers there also.
