Hello,
I was hoping to find the info I needed without having to post. Because there's certain info I can't provide, due to not knowing it myself. Now onto the layout question I have. I'm considering getting Hammer's Rip'D Pearl ball. I like the ball a lot, however I'm a bit concerned if I can get this ball drilled to fit the way I want to throw the ball.
Not to drive anyone crazy with a lot words, however I feel it's a bit important. When I first started bowling often several years back, and i got my own first ball with a core in it. I threw the ball without a thumb for a couple years. During that time I stood far left on the approach, and threw the ball far right, with big hook to the pocket. However over the last year, I started using my thumb in the ball, and while doing this. I decided I wanted to stand much farther to the right, and throw the ball more straight, with a controlled motion to the pocket from the breakpoint.
Now here's the thing, I feel most of the balls I own, are drilled to the way I use to throw the ball. The ball having length, with angular backend motion. Which now most of my current balls, I feel I can't use now, as they will hook to much playing to the outside part of the lane.
As for me, I'm right handed, no surprise, as I mentioned above how I lined up when I first started bowling. However even now with me using my thumb in the ball. I naturally still keep my hand under the ball a good amount. So I know i put a decent amount of revs on the ball still, one of the things i can't give a number on. I do know my ball speed is around 15-15.5, not a speed dominate player at all. I honestly don't even know my PAP. Something I should know with as many balls I have had my PSO drill for me, however he has never given me that info. One other thing, I do know I have a high ball track.
With all that said, I'm looking for a controlled type layout to put on the Hammer Rip'D Pearl ball. I'm looking for a layout where the ball has good length, and smooth off the breakpoint. Keeping in mind I want to play straighter on the outside part of the lane, which is dryer as we all know. The ball would mostly be used in league on a THS.
Anyways I know I have given a limited amount of info, i wish i had more to share. Anyhow i am hoping it's at least enough for someone to still suggest a type of layout that might fit what I'm looking for, on the Hammer Rip'D Pearl ball.
