left pitch in thumb for a righty..what are the benefits??
« on: March 10, 2009, 04:11:16 PM »
hi all. first time using the site and i need some of the guru's advice..lol.
i just had my stuff changed from 3/8 rev no leteral to 3/8 rev 3/16 left. while it feels pretty good i was just curious what the benefits are. my driller said with my long span and very long thumb it would help me stay behind the ball better. my span is 5 3/16 and 5 5/16. what i really want to know is the advice he has given me accurate?

I recently made a fit change.  I extended my span to 4 7/16, but didn't change my thumb pitch.  I was using 1/4" fwd and 0 lateral.  I started rubbing on the side of my thumb, thus I added 1/8 palm.  Since doing so, no rubbing and I'm clearing the ball pretty well.

For blank drills, I ask customers to pick up a pencil and see if the thumb goes more towards the middle or ring.

well first night out with my new pitch i go 243 - 220 - 245 - 708. got out of the ball very clean and even noticed more backend reaction? i asked some of the better bowlers if the lanes were any different to them and they all said no. i guess i'm just odd, but i think i'm gonna like it. thanks again for all your replies.

Good.  Just a guess, but if you are seeing alittle more pop, your axis tilt probably changed.  I made a release change along with my pitch/span change.  The result was my PAP moving 1" down and my vertical measurement going from 1/2 up to 1/8 down.

I have tried several differant pitch's an span changes. After I was done my pap had changed. It was 51/2"x 1/2' up.Now it's 43/4"x 0.I also went back to a 1/4" offset in my thumb(Please send ur replies about offset thumb's to ur congressman),just make's my thumb feel better in fit an keeps more of the ball on my hand
