Title: oil rings on the ball

this will problem be a dumb question but I was just wondering what it means when the oil rings on the ball after u throw it get closer to your grip holes. mine used to be about 2 1/2 inches away but i have noticed lately they are within a inch an i am scoring better. is there any relationship between the to, an why have they moved
