Layout Advice
« on: June 28, 2007, 02:50:10 PM »
Ok, here is my dilemma. I recently added more speed to my game. I would say 4-5 mph. I still roll the ball the same and like playing a deeper part of the lane. My equipment is all drilled b/w 5 and 6 inches with strong roll or angular backends. One is 500 sanded, one 1000 polished, and the rest are all oob still. What kind of layouts would help me get the early read but not loose the backend i like having? Thanks

Without a profile, it is hard to say.  But, if this is all I have to go on, put the pin more like 4 1/4 to 4 1/2 with the cg stacked.  Just putting the pin a little closer to the PAP will give it a little more midlane and yet still have a strong backend reaction.

What additional info would you need? My pap is 6" over w/ 0" up or down. Pretty high revs according to those who i have asked. Crankers, coaches, and pro-shop guys. Currently play right around 30 hitting 18-20 and out to around 10.

You need to choose an asymmetric ball with a low RG, medium to high RG Diff, and a strong MB.  Choose a dull and aggressive surface, maybe around 500 grit sanded.  Then lay it out 3 - 4" pin to PAP, 75 degree MB, and the pin at the bottom of the safe zone.  Another option is the Rico1 layout, but with your high track you'd be taking a chance of rolling over the finger holes.  The Rico1 reads the midlane well but doesn't have as much backend as the other layout.  --  JohnP
