There are obviously people who have had success trying something similar, and I certainly don't have all the answers, so maybe you should try it on one ball as a test.
We're all very different so who knows what might help you. Regarding your higher ball speed, that's a double-edged sword. Just like changing your release you can teach yourself to slow the ball down without messing up your timing.
A speed adjustment (up or down) can be every bit as effective as any other adjustment we make over the course of games. For myself, slowing the ball down is as easy as moving forward a big step on the approach (and sometimes left or right, too) so I don't have as much momentum going towards the line. When the lanes are slick it's invaluable. Good luck as you move forward with your game.
