Title: Oven Ball
Post by: Seacolt on January 29, 2004, 06:38:10 AM
Just to need to know about this.  I joined a Bowling group at Yahoo and people there are talking about putting their bowling ball in the oven to get all the oil out.  Is this a good idea or not??  I know not to put mine in the oven, I rather have the center take care of this instead.

Once, I hear what everyone here.  I'll copy your answer and post it up at the group.

Thanks.

Im not totally sure on this one either. You should talk to whoever runs ur center and ask to have one of the old particle house balls and give it a shot, just make sure it has no grips, or slugs, or u might burn the freekin' house down. haha

I've had good luck with the dishwasher method...use your normal dishwasher soap and run the ball thru one cycle.   MAKE SURE THAT THE "HEAT DRY" SETTING IS OFF.

I do this once every 2-3 months; besides the normal cleaning after bowling session.

I've done the oven method too, but stopped when I heard that the adhesives in the core can separate with even the lowest (170 degrees) oven heat.
