Spare ball question ...
« on: December 19, 2005, 07:04:40 AM »
Question for those drilling spare balls:
Does anyone here drill their spare balls differently
than your strike balls. I'm not talking layout, but more
finger pitches and thumb pitches to help stopping lift
and what not. Thanks for your help in advance.

I would drill your spare with the same pitchs as your strike ball.

I use slightly larger finger holes on my spare ball since I want to avoid lift/turn.  --  John{

I'm right handed. On my regular balls, I have MF pitch to the left and RF pitch to the right. For a spare ball I have the finger holes parallel (3/8 and 3/8), and 1/4 left pitch (out pitch) on the thumb vs my normal thumb pitch of 1/8 left (out). Helps me stay behind the ball and throw it straighter.
