About X-Hole - track over the middle finger
« on: October 03, 2007, 08:30:08 AM »
Well it is like this... a friend of mine has this problem (pin is placed too low, the ball flares over the middle finger). I know this was asked before but can't remember where to put the X-Hole to avoid this problem? Size of hole and ending weights should be close to?

Thank you for your advice.

Low holes raise the bowtie and vice versa.  That's one point of the low hole in a Rico drill.  Flaring over the middle finger probably means the bowtie is too low.

depending on how the weights fall(finger, thumb, side) you may or may not be able to. Usually 6 3/4" from the pin, 45 degrees from the PAP does the trick. (Same effect as the Rico layout)

Thank you all for your help. Now, I showed him this video:

and he asks what would be the difference between the down VAL hole and the Flare increasing hole. Will both work to solve this problem? or should he go directly to the down VAL hole ala Rico?

Thx

nick has great vids, although with what your friend wants to do those hole placements in the vid is not what you want to do.  from what i understand what you told us, your friend is tracking over the finger hole because he is a high tracker and has a pin low drill. right?  to help move the bow tie up and off his finger hole, you would have to put a hole 6 3/4" from pin, 45 degrees from the track.

here's a good pic with great info from nick's site.
