I have a storm trifecta that is a x-out. The pin and cg are 2" apart but the rad (mass bias) is not in line with the pin and cg. It is at a 90 degree angle to the right 6 3/4" from the pin and 7 1/2" from the cg. I`m thinking the cg is mismarked. It might also the the mass bias mismarked How would I find the cg ? I tried to float the ball in a bucket of water, it sank. I do have access to a dodo scale but don`t know how to find the cg with it. Any help will be appreciated.

The procedure is on the Lane 1 website, link below. Of course, it is written for a Lane 1 ball and refers to the Lane 1 logo, but it works for any ball. If necessary, draw in a Lane 1 logo on the ball with a grease pencil so you can follow their pictures. It does require a dodo scale. -- JohnP

John, Does it matter where I draw the lane 1 logo? Should I use the original cg mark as a guide?

Actually draw a line close to the marked CG and follow the steps, I know that may not be the real CG, all you need is to have a starting point. It will work its way out. If you have access to a Determinator, you can check the MB location as well. Good luck.

Thanks for the help. I will be at the proshop on Monday and give it a try. I don`t have access to a determinator.

Draw the diamond with the marked cg near its center. Then draw the first line an inch or so away from the cg. I don't draw the diamond at all, I usually draw the first line about an inch away from both the marked cg and the pin, then proceed from there. Just remember, after the initial balancing you don't touch the sliding weights again, and you rotate the ball 90 degrees counterclockwise after each balancing. -- JohnP
