Quick question.

2-3" pin
4.4oz top weight.

Looking to have pin above ring finger, cg just below right or in ring.

Essentially looking for a longer piece.

PAP 4 3/8 x 0.

Would the high top weight hinder this drilling?

Avoiding excess finger weight might get tricky... will likely need to drill the fingers deeper than usual.  Holes that meet at their bottom can be a touchy subject at nationals.

Balance hole (if needed) will likely end up in the positive finger quadrant and reduce the amount of flare.

It would depend on the combination of what the actual pin is (closer to 3" or 2") and what your span is. Can always drill fingers deeper.

What he said. With that short of a pin and that top weight depending on your span plus inserts if you use them it will require a weight hole no doubt. It will be in a location that does take away from the overall core dynamics some. If the pin is right at 3" and your span is short it may work. Lay the ball out, then weigh it up to see where you are prior to drilling. IF you pitch your fingers away you can drill the holes 3.5-4" deep for the fingers, that may not be enough.

I agree with most here, but if you are looking for a longer piece ( I assume length down the lane), you can go with a longer pin pap distance and put the pin below the fingers.  if you are worried about the extra hole. 

I know that the "general rules" of pin up versus pin down are thrown around on this board, but pin to pap distance will give you more length than pin up or pin down requirements, imo.   In addition, and I may be misunderstanding what you are asking for, but with a 4 3/8 x 0 pap, and a pin above the ring finger, you might not have a very long pin to pap distance if your span isn't all that long.

Also if you are looking for more length, than a flare reducing hole shouldn't really be an issue either.

Am I missing the OP's intent?

My first thought is to place the pin under the middle finger and the cg around the center of grip if the pin is closer to 2 inches.  If it is 3 inches, then pin pin above the bridge or middle finger and cg near center of grip.  Doing these layouts may help prevvent from having to add an extra hole and still provide plenty of length.  Then adjust the cover to determine the amount of backend; flippy or conitnuous arc.

Then again, what ball are we talking about with these specs?
