PAP & Sarge Easter Grip...
« on: July 23, 2005, 06:36:11 AM »
How will a Sarge Easter grip, affect a bowler's PAP?
I would think it would raise the ball track, but am not sure.
I know it will reduce revs.
Just wondering, as I'm being forced into using the grip, because of injury to my ring finger.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. We're trying 1/4 left lateral, 1/4 reverse to start.
I'm a little leery about throwing this drilling. Wonder if I will hang in the ring finger?
My only other options are using middle and little finger; middle and index finger....
Or going to the other hand, and joining the "dark-side".

I'm confused...

You're right handed? 1/4 reverse is okay... but 1/4 left lateral?

Explain.

BrunsNick,

No, I'm left handed. Should have mentioned that...
That's why I mentioned being forced to join the "dark-side".

On PBA.com, I did a search and 3/4 or more reverse for the ring finger was mentioned, which seems like it would put a lot more pressure on my ring finger.
I'm a 1/4 reverse on the thumb...They mention cutting back on reverse, when going to the grip...I thought I'd try 1/4 reverse first.

Do you think it will work?

K... what is your span?

Start with 5/8th left lateral, it is based off a conventional grip.

The reverse is based off span and the flexibility of your hand.

Finger tip specs:
Middle = 4.75
Ring = 4.75

Conventional grip:
Ring = 4 - 15/16 (4.9375)

I know that the reverse is based on flexibility. I'm 58 and am slowly loosing flexibility.
On the coke bottle test my thumb lateral comes out to 0. Any more than 1/16 left lateral (palm) I blister.

I'm not talking about your thumb pitch...

And I'm still confused... fingertip span 4.75 (4 3/4??) and conventional = 4 15/16?!?!?!?

Sorry, That should have been 3 - 15/16 fr the conventional. (I had a very Late night, last night).
I don't know why I brought up the thumb pitch. Probably to let you know that my hand is pretty inflexible all around.

Hope you don't think I'm a complete idiot.

With a 3 15/16", I'd make your starting point at 3/8th reverse and 5/8th left since you're a southpaw.

The idea is you want your ring finger to feel like it disappears when it is inside the ball. Best way I can describe the perfect fit.
