Phenom Drilling
« on: December 02, 2003, 08:06:52 PM »
I just ordered my Phenom and after reading all your reviews, and looking at the demonstration on Track's site I decided to go with it. I get my ball in a couple days and in the meantime must decide what drilling pattern to go with. I am ignorant when it comes to drilling patterns and ball composition and core composition until I realized just how important it is.

Before suggesting which drilling pattern to go with, let me quickly explain my situation. I just started throwing a hook ball two years ago (ebonite stinger). I just never was able to feel comfortable using this ball. The ball was designed and drilled to basically have a good backend, but wasn't meant to be an extremely high rev ball. It took me close to two years to find out I shouldn't be attempting to throw a low/med rev ball like a high rev ball. I am a righty and feel very comfortable throwing from the left and attempting for it to cross over the middle arrow, but unfortunately with this ball one of two things happenes....1) I get the ball too far right and it has no chance to come back(similar to the superfreak as the test ball on the website), or 2) I adjust minorly and it swings awkwardly past the headpin...seems like I just don't get enough true hits. Rather then try to throw differently which has proven difficult I decided to go for a ball that will play to my strengths.

I already know I want one of the 3 drilling patterns that have a balance hole, I was just hoping for some direction on which one to go for, and what huge differences these patterns have(pro's, cons, etc....)

Thanks, Justin
