Does this drilling mean that the ball will hook more? Most of My stuff is drilled with pin below fingers.

  pin up drilling usually save the most energy until later down the lane.. you should get more of an angular(hook)reaction with the pin up.. as for will it hook more it depends on where you want the ball to hook.. bowlers view hook in 2 different places, early hook or angular hook.. pins up hook later(for example down lane) and pins down hook earlier(for example closer to your feet).. then you have your mid lane(hook/read), but thats another story..lol..

Pin above fingers puts the pin closer to the VAL and will make the ball respond to friction more quickly creating a more angular reaction. Pin below the fingers is farther from the VAL and will respond slower to friction creating a arching motion.

Pin up or down does not make it hook later or sooner. This is a misnomer and has been proven by USBC BALL Motion Study. Cover stock surface prep determines when the ball hooks on the lane. Layout determines reaction shape.

An analogy I like to use for the pin over reaction is it's like dropping the clutch while revving up. Pin down is more like casual driving.

  your right about this part that the surface will definetly play a big roll(no pun intended..lol..) on how soon the ball will rev up.. as for the other part you say tomato I say tomoto..lol.. all and all "boos" they are both correct, even jw's clutch dropping has the right picture to it..lol..

Tahnks for the replies. I have a Morich Ball that is polished and has the Pin above over the ring finger. It does not do much. Why?

Because when discussing an asymmetric ball like the one's Morich makes you can't simply judge how the ball will react by pin position alone.  The PSA/MB has a great deal of influence on the shape of the reaction after the midlane.

There are 467 possible reasons. Give more details about the ball, details about your release specifications, the oil pattern and amount and lane surface and which balls, drilled in what way do work for you on the above condition, and maybe then someone can give you some possible reasons.
