what does placing the pin location closer to the ball track do to ball reaction?
what does placing the pin further away from the track do to ball reaction?
student eager to learn.

This really isn't the relationship used to determine reactions. Distance from axis point is what is used to determine amount and location of flare. But in general, putting the pin closer to the ball track will create more length, and flare on the backend. Putting the pin further from the track will create earlier and more stable roll.

Look at page 3 of this brochure from Legend's bowling. It talks about pin and cg placement, and their effect on ball reaction.
