Pin To PAP Distance Question
« on: February 24, 2006, 03:13:02 AM »
I know that the further the Pin is from the PAP, the later the ball will roll. However, what I don't know is......If you take two identical balls and put the Pin 4" from PAP and under RF on one ball and put the Pin 4" from the PAP beside the RF (could come out beside and above depending on your PAP), what is the the difference between the two Pin positions?

Another on.......lets say 5" and Pin on bridge under fingers and 5" Pin beside AND above RF and Pin 5" and over RF?

Since all the balls can have the same static weights, and those weights won't make a difference, the differences in ball reaction will be because of the change in RG values of the drilled balls.  When you place the pin above the fingers, you are drilling more into the side of the core whereby when the pin is below you are drilling into the top of the core.

Pins above the fingers typically go longer and are stronger downlane.

With the same Pin to PAP distances, the ones with the higher pins will typically go longer.
