pin to pap distances

Okay guys this is for my friend because I was measuring his pin distances to pap for our college coach and we realized something. He got 3 new balls drilled up in the last month and has complete over under reaction, well the distances are; avalanche slide has a distance of 7 5/8in, onyx vibe 6 3/4in, and reign supreme 6in. I know this are mega long from pap. The best reaction he has is his resurgence and that has a pin to pap of 5 5/8in. He is a big power player, high rev high speed about a 45 degree axis rotation i dont know his tilt. I hate to tell him that he has to redrill everything he has because of this. any ideas? weight holes? surface changes?

Where are the pins in relationship to his grip? And what is his PAP?

Not sure how a ball driller could/would lay these out and have the pins that far away.

his pap is 5 7/16
i have no idea how or why the driller would do this but i think he didnt measure it out for him

yeah i know, when the pin is 6 3/4in away from your pap it is left handed.

There is no such thing as a "left handed layout"  it is all relative to an individuals PAP. If they are that far away, maybe his ball driller did measure for his PAP awhile ago and it has changed over time?

Dude seriously....when I said a left handed lay out I meant they were laid out for a left hander, such as over the label....therefore if the pin was next to the middle finger (or ring finger for a left hander), it would be in the range of 6 3/4- 7 5/8" from his PAP.

I DO NOT know any ball driller that would lay out using pins that far from any bowler's PAP on purpose.

ok i know no driller that would drill that far away from the pap. the 6in is above the bridge but the other two, 7 5/8 is left of the middle finger.

More than likely he's gonna have to plug and re-drill.  or sell and get new ones, or a trade up somewhere.  Definitely need a new ball driller though.

My PAP is the same, so is Norm Duke's.   Duke keeps it pretty simple:

A half ten is not a great shot.  No, you shouldn't have carried it.

My best guess is that the driller was working off a vastly different PAP than you're using (alternative -- he's incompetent).  If you haven't already done so, double check his PAP by marking it with a piece of ~ 1/2" square white tape and watching it off his hand.  If marked correctly it will appear stationary for at least 5' or so.  If he has a non-flaring ball use that and the tape will stay stationary for longer down the lane.  If the info you've given us is correct I recommend to start by plugging the ball that has the 7 5/8" pin to PAP and redrilling it.  --  JohnP

 

On edit:  One more thought - is your friend left handed?  If so, the driller may have used a right handed layout by mistake.  If this is the case he should correct the drills without charge and without argument.
