pin up drilling question..
« on: November 24, 2006, 12:13:43 AM »
If I have a ball with a 4 inch pin and want to put the pin about 1 1/2 - 2 inches above and a bit to the right of my ring finger and have the cg fall directly under the pin so its in my palm area, what kind of reaction should I expect? Is this a big backend layout?

My span is approx 4 inches and there is no marked mass bias on this ball..

I typically get good length and a strong arcing backend (not skid flip though unless on wet/dry conditions) with this type of layout.  Of course this is all relative to the characteristics of the ball and surface..but in general.  This is probably one of my favorite layouts as with my slower speed, it helps me get extra length, but the ball will still turn the corner.

thanks strapper.. I had an epic battle with this drilling and the ball was a monstor. The ball I was thinking about drilling this way is the new raw hammer Toxic. Its a reactive pearl ball..

Impossible to give any opinion on your potential ball reaction without your positive axis point measurements.  Post them and I'll take a look.

Good point Jeff.. I miss read your post initially... assumed that 4" pin was 4" pin to PAP.. not pin out distance...   Anyway for me a 4" pin to PAP above and right of my fingers (w/ symmetrical core ball) w/out a weight hole will give the described reaction.  With a Toxic with that type of layout (for me), I would expect easy length and a pretty sharp backend (being pearl w/ traction additive).
