Can anyone tell me the difference between pin above the fingers and pin below the fingers in terms of ball reaction? thanks

for most cases, pin down reads the lane a bit sooner, with a smooth backend reaction, pin up promotes length, with a bit sharper backend reaction. pin downs for me usually are more continuious on the back where as pin ups are shorter and more snappy on the back.

These are just general characteristics not taking into consideration a ton of other factors.

But in most cases for most people.

again for me, but alot of times pin up or pin down can mean the difference in carry for me. if im leaving weak 10's with a pin up ball, i can go to a pin down ball to get more continuation thru the pins and start carrying, it works most times for me anyways. just as well if im leaving alot of 9 pins with a pin down ball, i can switch to pin up and it tends to carry better also.

As long as ball surface and pin to pap distance remains the same, then a pin up (or closer to val or smaller angle to val) will repsond to friction or transition quicker than the pin down ball.
