pin up pin down drilling
« on: February 29, 2012, 06:01:15 AM »
I am confused. Using the Dual Angle layout methods, I have drilled several balls using different layouts. Why is everyone of the drills placing the pin above my fingers? I here bowlers say they have used the similar drills and pin has been down below their fingers and also all my drills keep the cg in the area of the middle of my span. Am I doing something wrong. I here people reply to questions about drill suggestions and they will say, ex 30x3x40.. One will have pin up and the other pin down. Please help me understand this. Thanks

bowlingchat.net....check their wiki on drilling and layouts...good stuff there.

Remember also, dual angles for me and for you will look different because our pap's are different.  For me 50x5x30 is pin up about 1.5 inches above my bridge near my midline...for my driller the same layout puts the pin just above and outside of his ring finger...all because his PAP coordinates are 1" longer than mine are.

Exact - everything is relative to your individiual PAP, and what may look the same on a ball can also look very different on the lane when the player has a different style (e. g. concerning revs, mph).

Thanks dizz, Yep, I know they are different with each bowler. I was just wondering why I hardly see any lefties with pin down. And every one I have been drilling be it left or right, all the pins are above the fingers, mostly the ring and some slightly out to the side. So , thanks for the help. Good Bowling

Your midline is the horizonal line that goes through the center of your grip towards your pap and the centerline is the vertical line between your fingers through the center of your thumb hole/center of grip! The val is also a vertical line that goes through your pap! Just to clarify the lines on the ball when laying out the dual angle layout!! Higher val angles usually 60 degrees plus will be pin down and lower val angles will tend to be pin up!!! It's all relative to your pap, drill angle and val angle!!!

Train a child up in the way they should go and when they are old they will do some "Damn Good Bowling", be a "DV8" and not turn from it, besides bowling starts with a Big B!
