Title: Pitch Changes
Post by: Gazoo on February 20, 2008, 12:15:58 AM
Can one make alter the pitches of the thumb hole using tape? Say one thought they had to much right pitch. Could they use tape to change this pitch to make sure before they went to their driller to have the pitch changed. How would one place the tape to determine if they had to much pitch, like in this example right pitch. Thanks.

You couldn't make a significant difference unless the thumb hole is way too big.  --  JohnP

i do have a larger thumbhole that is has slight oval..i stack 5-6 pieces of 3/4 white tape on top of each other and place in front of thumbhole where the pad of my thumb rest..i would say this adds rev..

Pitch is defined by the distance the center of the hole would miss the center of the ball if it were drilled to that depth.  By adding tape, the center of the hole is shifted and the pitch changes.  --  JohnP

Easy to create a triangular and sloped set of tape that will alter the pitch feel in a too big hole.  Simply add slight slope to add more reverse if the bottom is higher than the top(ie more depth).  Or add forward by adding more pieces at the top versus the bottom!

However the exact effect will be more easily felt in the reverse situation above.
