Hi Y'all,

I'll be picking up a Brunswick Ultra Zone soon with a 5" pin. The last time I checked, my PAP is 5 3/8 and 1/4 Up

My preferred line of play is deep inside, throwing between 3rd/4th arrow. High tracker, medium-medium quick ball speed.

What would be an ideal layout? If I go pin above bridge CG out, will it take the ball forever to pick up? Or how about stacked leverage? Any recommendations welcome!

I used this layout on a Break S-75. Layout was 50*, 4", 40*. Consider changing the pin-PAP distance to suit where you want to play on the lane.

if you want to play deeper i would put the pin above the bridge or above the middle. That will give you a longer pin to pap distance. The 5 in pin really doesnt matter and your driller can just get around that with drilling holes deeper and such, depending on where you place the cg. It might not even need a balance hole

What is your rev rate??
Do you normally throw pin up / skid-flip stuff??
3rd/4th out to what break point

If you have decent revs I would suggest the double thumb layout or a modified version with a 5 inch pin to pap.

if the others are 5 inch pin to pap or longer and you are looking for the same look go 5 inch pin to pap with this one and the double thumb hole weight hole.
Or if you have decent amount of revs you can even put the pin closer to the VAL for a more violent reaction at the backend.

Ultra is asymmetric, thus MB must be considered when laying out, not CG.

It has low rg core with relatively high asymmetry (0,020) which means, WITH the correct MB positioning, you don't have to worry about taking forever to pick up.

Please also keep in mind that Ultra does not have a true skid snap nature.

It's hard to recommend anything without actually knowing your specs (rev rate, speed, rotation, tilt etc.) or watching you bowl but if I may make a suggestion:
Place the pin 5 to 5-1/2 from your PAP and close to your VAL for quick response to friction (that should put pin "approximately" above and to the right of your ring). Put MB in 45* in relation to your PAP. CG would be in the positive thumb quadrant probably, giving you some room for x-hole. Check the reaction and flare seperation and put strong hole down your VAL (or even in MB) if needed.

Finally, as always, adjust the surface..
