Need Ball/Layout Advise
« on: September 30, 2008, 05:37:15 AM »
OK, My PAP is 4 1/8 over and 1/8 down, Right Handed, speed around 17mph.

Equipment: Track Tantrum, Morich N'Tense, Black Widow Venom, Columbia Momentum Swing, Storm Street Rod Pearl, Storm Dimension, Track Uprising.

1st Game (Tantrum), good shot going 12 to 5 with strong backend.  Usually 230+ game.

2nd Game (everything in the bag), 3rd frame or so, backend goes away and the ball labors to get back and I keep moving my feet right going straighter.  Even went deeper with a stronger ball and the ball does not come back.

3rd game, I'm ready to go home !

It looks to me like the heads are drying up and the oil is carrying down.  The center is using Prodigy oil, and the carry down should not be this bad.  Just drilled out an N'Tense.  Same thing happened, but I was able to move right with my feet and the ball appeared either stopped or rolled out into the pocket, yea this is doable.  If I use more surface, the ball stands up too early, less surface the ball goes forever.  The only bowlers I see scoring are the ones using shinny balls with big backends but rolling them slow.  My speed is around 17 (not rocket fast) and I have timing issues trying to go slower.

Has anyone ever encountered this and what did you do to score ?

Rayzr, straight up 7 or 8, will make a nice are into pocket. Point it 1 or 2 boards if you need to or swing it 1 or 2 boards. Very controllable ball.

how much hand do you have. an option might the noize. it has the weaker core to get down the lan then the ultra aggressive cover to cut through oil. i havent used it but thats my impression based on the buddiesproshop video and description.

and i learned this from bowling junior gold this year on the long oil pattern that was 46ft. start with a stronger ball like your momentum playing inside and not swinging it much at all and once you start to burn a spot either just keep balling down or move straighter depending on where the breakpoint is. that is what worked for most people. i started with a rival and went to a blue vibe because i have more than enough hand.

move in deeper with your feet.. bring your target closer to you and slow your speed down on your ball..

Use a ball that is pin up with some surface. Don't expect the ball to hook a ton. Move deeper and play straighter. Lay the ball down and stroke it with some good roll.
