I have seen a couple amazing color matches before (I remember someone on here had a Track rule up for sale on eBay... thumb had been plugged once and you had to look twice in order to tell), but in general these are very difficult to get anything closer than the same shade.... and sometimes that's even hard to do. It seems as though certain colors darken as they set, others don't (could be because the dyes in our proshop are like 20 yrs old too)... that's why I just clear plug everything... although it doesn't look great, its better than having obvious dark spots where the color darkened upon setting.
AS far as online drillers... I have heard good thins about Buddies Pro shop.. and know that Doug Sterner does a good job.
