I had a potential ball buyer here on ball reviews ask me a question about
plugging and redrilling a ball from a first drill lh to a 2nd drill rh, as to whether the redrill makes the ball have less reaction because of drilling from lh use to rh use. I have used balls plugged from rh drill to left hand drills and never had a problem. Could anyone on here expand on my comments for bowlers with the same question? I can see a new bowlers apprehension. I've been bowling since '71 and never had a problem with redrilling another's ball (R or L) for my use.

A very simple answer is if you reverse the dilling from LH to RH, the left side of the ball should be fresh since the lefty rolled on the other side. I fell whats more important is where the holes are to be drilled. I hate plugging a ball and redrilling into the plug. To me this is the weakest part of the ball and will probably crack somewhere down the road.

Should be no issue as you change from lh drill to rh drill - you are rolling the ball on "fresh surface" and usually not rolling over ball plug.....

Thanks puddlejumper for asking this question out. I was the bowler in question, and comments make sense to me. As long that the rolling is not over a plug I would say that I could try it.

I own a pro shop and throw plugged balls. I reiterate what the above posters comments are...you can even go so far as to look at the flare pattern. As long as the ball isn't going to hit the plug on the second half of the track flares you'll be fine. You don't want the ball hitting plug in the last 30 feet of the lane, before that though won't hurt anything.
