Title: Power Groove layout
Post by: Krumpy300 on August 18, 2004, 06:45:06 AM
Picked up an Ice Blue Pearl PG on ebay for a song. Ball has close to a 5" pin (beggers can't be choosers) and 2.5 oz of top weight. Any suggestions how I should lay it out to tone down the back end reaction a bit layout wise (without taking a pad to it). Not looking for it to jump too much off the dry, though I realize it will be snappy by nature. I'm a high track- high rev bowler with average speed. I was thinking pin above and between my fingers and kicking the CG about 2 1/2" off to the right of my center line. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Were it me, I'd put the pin on the centerline above your fingers as you said, but I'd put the CG in the thumb-positive quadrant, perhaps 3/4" to the right and 3/4" below the grip center.  That way you'd have some latitude to adjust the dynamics with an XH if the reaction is too strong.

I have a Plum Power Groove drilled that way, and it gives me the reaction that you describe.

Hope this helps.
