Centar AMB Particle layout?
« on: April 21, 2008, 08:25:22 AM »
Hi, I need some input on drilling my AMB Particle.
Ball specs are wght 15.3, top wght 2.79 and 2.5" pin.
I'm a lefty speed is 15.5 to 16.5, revs are about 325,
pap is 5.5" over 1/2" up and axis tilt of 45 degrees.
How would a 4.5" pin to pap and 4.5" pap to vmb be?
Pin is in my ring finger and vmb is 1" down and over 2.5".
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, lftystrkr221

Unless you are on a flood or polish the surface, I think that ball (forget the layout) is going to be too much!  I just drilled one for a local league bowler.. 19-20 mph speed and in the 250-275 rpm range.  He claimed that he was 8 boards deeper than he had ever played and the ball was still starting up early for him (granted, it was on a fresh medium-ish oil house shot).  BTW, I used a 4.5 X 4 layout with a 3" pin buffer.  I ended up hitting the ball with particle polish to help get it down the lane a little more for him.

4.5 X 4.5 should be a really "strong" layout, I'd expect to adjust the surface...

Don't be afraid to bring up the surface on a high load particle like the AMB.  1000-grit plus polish can give you a great medium-heavy ball that eats carrydown for breakfast.  Especially for the rev-challenged or speed-dominant.
