Has anyone tried putting either a right handed drill for a lefty or a left handed drill for a righty on today's equipment?
I would assume the ball would go fairly long as it's trying to get back on a positive spin point, but I am curious, because I have thoughts of doing this sometime soon, to give me something to play straighter with.
Any ideas?

Spider,
It's not necessarily putting a left handed drill for a righty and visa versa. It just means that the distance from your individual PAP is longer.
I have a few bowling balls with the pin under my middle finger. For me, that equates to a 5.25" pin to PAP.
(for others with a lower track it may only equate to 4" Pin to PAP, higher tracks 5.5-6" Pin to PAP)
For me this layout gets me cleaner thru the heads and a longer transition time when it gets to dry boards.

Yes, that does make more sense. So in a sense the further away from your PAP you go, the more length? Or no?

Yes to both posts.
I have routinely used left-handed drilled balls for super-dry, or reverse block conditions in tournaments! They work very well, as long as you go straighter.
They were ususally just label drills for left-handers

Yes Jesse I was thinking of doing a label type drill for a righty on one of my pieces. I have thrown right handed equipment before, and surprisingly really liked the reaction, except that the pitches were all wrong and they never fit right.
Now I am somewhat intrigued.

Length is think is a result of less flare. The distance from your PAP determines the flare potential of the ball you're drilling.

renoatpike,
Less flare does equate to length. However a 1 inch pin to PAP is also a low flare drilling but makes the ball roll very early. Keep that in mind.

If anyone out there is worried about the scores being too high, try duckpin!!

Yes. you are correct. I forgot about that...as I very rarely drill a ball that way.

6 1/4" pin by 6" MB to my PAP. (basically almost all the way in my thumb hole)
Look a bit lefty?
The ball rolls fantastic with clean backends. Any bit of oil, watch out. The surface is also now 2000, so I have a little more experimenting to do.
My Emerald Vibe is also drilled with a 6" pin to PAP, and that also rolls fantastic!
Spider Ball Bowler, it's worth a shot, believe me. Good luck!
