Question on moving an axis hole........Help needed ASAP
« on: March 31, 2006, 02:41:49 PM »
Ok i punched up an ebonite overtime - pin was 3-4 out.
Drilling was pin under middle finger cg was under the center line and 1  1/2" right of center of grip.

When i weighed it out it had 7/8 thumb weight (after drilled thumb deep as possible) and 1 oz side.  Looking to get aroudn 0 X 0

So I drew a line from pin through cg an put the axis hole 5  1/2" from Pin in the thumb quadrantabout 1/2" from cg.. This ball tracks very close to the thumb... and has a 1 solid oil ring.. Hardly any flare.

LOOKING 4: suggestions how to get this ball to flare a bit more????? (move the axis out more??

 PLEASE HELP.

MY SPECS:
 PAP:  4"  X  1/2 up
 SPEED - 18mph
 REV RATE - HIGH

Sounds like a pretty strong layout...

Sounds about right... this should take out both thumb and side wt...

WOW!  Not what I would expect at all...  Everything sounded like a "high flare" tpye of layout...  I thought the overtimes had pretty strong cores?

I'm not sure you will get any noticable effect from a minor wt hole adjustment...  Strictly speaking, a hole 6 3/4" from the pin would have the greatest effect on flare... and anything over 3 3/8" should increase flare.

I would say the best bet for creating more flare in oil would be to put a little more surface on the ball...  Another option (which may or may not show any difference at all) might be taking the wt hole a little deeper to remove a little more of the dense inner core material...

I'm a little puzzled by this one too... let me know how it turns out.
