If i remember correctly the core is shifted 1/16" to create a 1" out in pin distance or 1oz of top weight. So moving the core 3/16" could create a 3" pin or 3ozs of top weight in the ball.

Many "proshop" guys for some reason thought the pin to cg distance and top weight on the ball was created by shifting the core large amounts which wasnt the case. They believed that shorter pin to cg balls hooked earlier etc. Lack of understanding fueled by rumors and not actual facts.

Before the current static weight rules depending on the bowlers span and the possible layout trying to be used, certain pin lengths or top weights could be preferred for drilling a particular ball for a specific layout that didnt require a weight hole or wouldn't require a massive weight hole because of the old rules being stricter.

For your case today it is irrelevant but some proshop guys or other "knowledgeable bowler" would probably tell you otherwise.
