Went and took my second lesson with a local star....
HE did the total package last week...technique...reviewed equipment!
Drilling fit and patterns.
LAst week we worked on technique and as I left he wanted a different roll off my hand!
He suggested my old(3 years ago stetched span)...I blanched...though I had some wonderful bowling moments with that span it tore the crap out of my thumb...always within just several games. He actually wanted even longer.
He said..."Just do it".
Along with that he did some tweaks! Much less reverse in the thumb...old was to tables) and then some reverse in fingers!
I came back today and he had me singing the strike strike strike song!
I loved the roll I had and so did he. He told me exactly what he wanted to see and showed me what it looked like! I said I did not like feeling of reverse in fingers...he showed me how it encouraged the proper flat hand rotation release which he favors!
I pointed out the slight tug under the front of my thumb...(which I know is too little bevel for one's forward or lack of reverse for that particular span and one's hand). He did what I do usually and tweaked the front bevel only!
By the time we were done he had demonstrated and he claimed I had followed and replicated that delivery over and over many successful times!
I was estatic. We talked about less reverse in the fingers and he explained the move I would have to make with my wrist if I did that(heel of hand leading and wrist slightly broken) and I exclaimed when I previously had this forward finger pitch I did exactly that! HE said..."I know!". (he had never seen me bowl in that time period).
We both also noted very happily that with this now even longer span than ever...I received NO thumb damage at all for a bunch of exciting games....he pointed out that with my super flexible thumb the forward move of 3/16 from my old pitch was probably all that was needed years ago to stop my severe back of knuckle rubbing problem!
Sweet mother of GOD!
