drilling/layout ???

I noticed a drilling on a ball I found a little odd.  A high rev player <right-handed> had the Storm Dimension with pin above middle finger and cg just right of center grip.  Can someone give me some insight of purpose for this drilling?  Would this drilling give length and sharper backend ?  thanks in advance.

That drill should make it so the flare lines are closer together and not spread out so much.  It would be more length and a moderately smooth strong backend

For me that is about the most length and angularity I can get. Keep in mind, the dimension wants to roll/hook more than skid/flip, so this guy might have been trying to get something out of this ball that is very hard to achieve.

It also depends of course on the bowler's PAP.  For some bowlers, that'd be a 6" pin to PAP, for others it'd only be 4.5".  However, either way the idea is more length with a nice hard arc on the backend.  That's the same kind of layout Mike Wolfe used on his Dimension when he won the PBA Ultimate Scoring Championship a few weeks ago, and that's the kind of reaction it gave him as well.  See here:  http://www.stormbowling.com/news/2008/11/2749
