Cover vs Pin vs CG/MB ?
« on: December 19, 2007, 10:50:51 PM »
Just curious on others opinions, How much would you rate the effect of coverstock (grit), Pin positions, CG/MB location in both symmetric / asymmetric ball?
For me;
Cover - 80%
Pin   - 15%
CG/MB - 5%

For a symmetric ball, I think you're right, only instead of CG/MB, use CG/weight hole.  For today's strong, quick-spinning asymmetrics, I think it's more like 75/15/10 with the 10% being for the MB placement.

I'd like to ask what "rate of effect" you mean? Overall hook? Reaction shape?

Strong MB cores have rather influence on how the ball breaks, the reaction shape, than overall hook. Having a strong MB to play with you have the option to emphasize a desired reaction with the setup. But I think it is hard to give a % count, esp. vs. low MB balls/cores.

After reading back the topic, I do noticed that the question was a bit vague. Sorry guys,

Dizz, I meant both reaction shape and overall hook. Yea, I do agree that MB is a factor that is hard for us to rate since some has strong and some low MB cores. Lets just assume that the ball has a medium MB core for this topic. Thanks.
