opening up the thumb hole
« on: August 28, 2015, 04:22:31 PM »
So far this season I have developed a callus on each side of my thumb. Now all of my thumbholes are too tight. It is a pain in the ass to keep bringing balls to my driller so that he can open them up. Should I go purchase a bit from home depot and open them up myself? Or should I get an extender for my dremel and grind the slug away?

If the callus is from bowling, you need to find a good pro shop and have your grip and span checked.  A bad fit will cause all kind of hand problems.  Opening up the thumb hole to compensate is a temporary Band-Aid.  You need to fix the root problem.

I got the callus from using a spare ball that had a snug thumbhole. I got the thumbhole opened up and have a nice clean release with that ball. However the callus doesn't seem to be going anywhere even if I file it.

Then you don't have a nice clean release, you are dragging or rubbing in some fashion.

Do have a round or oval thumbhole? If round you may need a oval.

causes:
1-Lack of flesh between first and second thumb joints
2-Hole Too Tight
3-Round Hole Drilled - should be Oval
