Title: Reaction from these three drillings
Post by: thedjs on April 15, 2010, 05:23:07 AM: If the distance from pin to pap stays the same, what reaction would you expect if the pin is located above, below or next to the ring finger? This may be covered somewhere in here but I can't find it.

Post by: fishbowler on April 15, 2010, 01:40:53 PM: in general the lower the pin the earlier and smoother. higher pins go longer and tend to react stronger later.

Post by: Kinalyx on April 16, 2010, 11:54:19 PM: My pro shop guy may be wrong(wouldnt count on it) but he says he was talking with Mo Pinel as well as 1 of the brunswick reps at a seminar. The Brunswick guy was talking about how the "Rico" drill makes the ball early & smooth & that it had a lot to do with the pin being located in the palm. Mo interjected stating that its not because of the low pin, its due to the pin location as well as the weight hole.

Anyway, long story short, Mo drilled up 2 of the same ball with similar statics, 1 with the pin over the fingers, 1 with the pin under. The pin under ball actually went 3 feet longer. He stated that this was due to the pin being the top of the weight block & after drilling the fingers & thumb is elongated it, thus making it get further down the lane. The pin up was a little stronger off the spot, but none-the-less shorter.

Now, this is all hearsay, but i trust my driller & i do know that he knows Mo & was at the seminar that he told me about.

I know this is contrary to popular belief, just relaying what ive heard.
