With a ball that has .4oz of top weight, how drillable is it? 2-3" pin, too.
Thanks in advance!

For me, a ball with that low top would be fine if the pin was NO SHORTER than 3inches.
I would put the pin below the bridge and swing the cg out to the strong side, then drill a weighthole on my val in the thumb/positive quadrant.
Lower topweight balls usually work good for me

I really like some balls with low top.. I drilled and old threat I had laying around and it had a 2in pin wit .75 top.. pin under bridge with a half oz of side..

Thanks for the comments guys, but what if, due to my track, I can't drill pin under? This ball I intended on doing a pin over drilling.

balls with low top weights, to me, are the easiest to drill.
You an put the pin in any position and not have to worry about keeping the statics weight's under USBC regulations.
And you can pretty much put a weight hole any where you need, within reason.
I say give me all the low top weight, pins 3"-6" out, and I can pretty much lay thise out for anyone and get great ball reaction.

Awesome, thanks for the response Larry! That's all I wanted to know.
I can't wait to drill this piece up.

Hey FastTracker,
You may want to check with your driller in regards to his standard depths of the holes. I typically remove around 2.5 ounces of weight from drilling so if you add a weight hole (on the top side of the ball) to this, you might be cutting it close to having 3 ounces of bottom weight. Just something to check on bud...

Great point tenpinspro. Especially if someone is using grips, switchgrip, IT, etc.
Keep the fingerholes as shallow as you can so you have weight hole options.

Thanks for all the help, guys!
Got the ball drilled up today. Checked to make sure the CG was in the correct spot and checked to make sure the top weight was correct. It turns out the top weight was wrongly marked on the box and that is was really 1 7/8oz top weight. So I bought a blem that turns out to be first quality. Score!

I'm not surprised, I routinely check cg and top weight and find many that are off, some by as much as an ounce. It does seem that the manufacturers have improved their cg location techiques, I seldom find one off more than about 3/8" now. -- JohnP
