Wondering what the pros and cons of a fingertip grip without inserts are?

Some questions:

Will it rip up your fingers?
Do you have problems adjusting it for swelling?
do you have less grip on the ball material vs. the rubber of the inserts?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

If you are old like me and bowled many years before anyone was smart enough to make these things, you'd know that they ARE much easier on the fingers. Comfort and gripping ability are both enhanced by finger grips. Having said that, from a guy who likes tight finger holes, you can't replace that BURN feeling that you get when you rip the ball without grips!!

going sans fingergrips will not tear your fingers up. your finger pads will not burn like they do against the sticky grips. your hand will probably clear the ball cleaner/earlier. depending on your swing that could mean earlier reaction and a tendency to miss right rather than have the ball hang up and get tugged left. and $10 per ball means(probably add 30-40 over it's life) is a decent savings for an item that has become a standard addition, money maker and efficiency improver to the drilling process but really doesn't offer that much to the bowler unless they have very weak hands or arthritus. bare holes are much easier to adjust for feel/swelling.

they are a preference. I have not had them, had them, and now I don't use them.

I find there is no need to tear the cover off the ball and I learned not to squeeze the ball. so my fingers are never worn or damaged from bowling( at least 3 to 20 games). I even have sharp bevels on them.

I have baby soft office worker hands and like the natural holes better for 2 reasons.

1. I can feel the finger pitches better
2. the fingers are actually closer together for a more comfortable grip.

but try it both ways and see what you like.
