Hello everybody!
I've somewhat recently gotten back into bowling pretty heavily after being out of it for over three years(graduated, got married, got a job etc..) and i'm feeling pretty good about my game, but not so much about my equipment. I have been throwing two MoRich balls i had drilled my Senior year of High School(2009) which are the Awesome Finish and LevRG. These balls have quite a few games on them, but still roll decently well. I knew i had to upgrade though...so i got a good deal on a DV8 Nightmare and a 900Global Freight Train. I got the Nightmare first and took it to a pro shop to be drilled. It looks like he laid it out with a 60*x4"x50* layout with the MB only about a quarter inch from my thumb. This ball won't do anything for me. It reads the mid, breaks about 3 boards, and then ZERO backend. I've never left more pocket 5-7's and pocket 8-10's in my whole life. I had told him I wanted a really sharp breakpoint on this one, and got quite the opposite. I don't blame the driller, he wasn't too familiar with my stats and i should've spoken up and been more specific about what i wanted.
I have yet to drill the Freight Train but have drawn up a layout roughly as a 35* x 3.75" x 25* with the MB kicked out about 3" from my PAP and Pin up @ about 2 o'clock to get the desired power i am looking for since i decided to join a Sport Shot league this spring. However now i am perplexed as to how i need to layout this Nightmare ( I am DEFINITELY having this ball re-drilled this week). The freight train will have the pin up a bit, so should i look to this Nightmare as a pin-down version of the 35x4x25 drilling as this ball's characteristics lean more towards an even arc reaction anyways?
Disclaimer: I know these are pretty extreme drillings, but I am gearing up for a sport shot, and not to mention I have a fairly high speed-low rev style(see below in signature)
So if anyone has any recommendations for a layout for me, please respond!
