redrilling question
« on: April 24, 2007, 04:37:21 AM »
If a ball is drilled with the pin below and to the right of the ring finger and about 2 3/4" from the bowlers pap, would changing the distance of the pin to pap to 3 1/2" (and keeping it below and right of the ring finger) make a noticable difference in the overall ball reaction?  I know it would increase the length somewhat but would that be the only big difference?

Also, would it not be just as simple to add some polish to get the same result since the pin would be moved less than an inch?

Thanks for the help.

Wouldn't moving the pin away from the PAP make it flare LESS???

Thank you I didn't know that.

But it begs a second question, is there a difference between a pin at 3 inches from the PAP and a pin that is 3 3/4" away for the PAP? Both would be 3/8" from the maximum flare position of 3 3/8".

Thus, then pin can never be more than 6 3/4 from a bowlers PAP

Sure it can.  You can lay the ball out with the pin on the negative axis point (NAP), which would be 13 1/2" from the PAP.  Now, the pin can't be more than 6 3/4" away from AN AXIS point (either the PAP or the NAP).

The amount of flare will be about the same, the ball with the pin further from the PAP will break a little later.  --  JohnP
