Reign of fire
« on: March 23, 2010, 03:19:54 AM »
Need some ideas of how to drill this ball. I have a high ball speed 17-19, High revs. I bowl in a house with synthetic lanes. I want to be able to keep ball speed up and get a great reaction on back end. Most balls drilled with pin above middle finger. Any ideas would be welcome.

The ROF is very strong.  What is your pap and axis tilt?

He means your PAP should be something like 5 X 1/4 up. 4 1/2 X 4 would put your PAP somewhere on the top of your ball.

Well, your AXIS ROTATION is probably 70*, but not your tilt.  Either way, if your pap is 4 1/2 by 1/2 up, then pin above the middle finger is 5"(ish) from your pap.

The cover on the ROF is super strong, I would go pin above bridge about 1" if you can get the static weights legal.

If you want something that will hook no matter where you want to play you can always go with Mo's Double Thumb layout. I have it on my Reign of Fire, and even though I can't use it on a house shot, it's stupidly fantastic on Sport patterns.

Since Mo explains it best:

If you want to understand the technical side of bowling better a friend of mine introduced me to this website:

I don''t usually post, but it''s interesting listening to the experts.
