How to determine foward pitch
« on: September 20, 2004, 10:55:20 AM »
Hello all, I have a question. I am wanting to try some forward pitch in my thumb and I was wandering what might be a good place to start my spans are 4 1/2 and 4 7/16 relaxed grip. I am having aproblem squeezing the ball and thought some forward pitch might help me relax my grip. Wha t do you guys think? Let me know.

Thanks, cooksey

that does work tremendously well, for me at least.  I was either squeezing the ball too much or I forgot to squeeze and dropped it occasionally about 2 years ago.  Since then, I have gone from 1/8 rev to 1/8+ fwd then to 1/8 fwd with a tad bit of right pitch (I'm left handed).  That allowed me to not squeeze the ball as much and was able to focus more on a free arm swing.  If you adjust your pitches, depending on how bad you need an adjustment, I wouldn't go more than 3/16 at a time in any direction unless you're 100% sure.  Also, don't forget to accommodate for that fwd pitch and shorten the span a little bit to fit the pitch properly, otherwise you'll end up hanging up at the front your your thumb.
