Rico...
« on: September 13, 2006, 12:51:35 PM »
So...I have decided that I will finally give in to my desires...and try out the Rico drilling.  I know that the weight hole 6 3/4 inches away from the pin is supposed to move the flare's bowtie up...however, given that I track high, do you still think that this will work well -- i.e., will it not flare over the fingers?  I posted earlier about this, but did not really get an answer to the above...has anybody ever drilled a ball rico AND had it flare over the fingers?

Thanks for your help.

You're not going to be satisfied until you try it.  If it hits the finger holes, have it plugged and redrilled or sell it.  --  JohnP

Man I used to track real high and I punched a Sonic X peal rico. Its in my profile. I never touched the fingers.  As long as your not tracking over anything in your regular pieces, you have nothing to worry about. The weight hole raises your bow tie so it gets the track away from the fingers. I love the way it rolls, and yes it rolls and rolls heavy I might add. On the Sonic, High RG Low diff, it gives me a great look on jumpy back ends. It smooths it out without killing the finish @ the deck. Now I do have a friend that has the RICO drill on a Roto Grip RUSH, and it hooks to high heaven, so choose your experimental piece wisely.

I can email you a article on the rico layout if you Pm me your email address.I think in the article it explains what exactly the X-Hole is for and I believe what you are asking is exactly why you put the X-hole.
And yes I have had a ball with the Rico layout and no I did not have a problem with it flaring over fingers or thumb.
