I've got my pap marked...now what?
« on: December 16, 2007, 09:34:59 AM »
Ok, i'm laying out my two rivals, one 5 1/2" to pap, pin below the bridge, and the other 4 1/2" to pap, pin above the bridge.  I'm using the degree layout system and i've got my pap marked on the balls using that pro-sect measuring thing. Now my axis is 5 1/2 X 1 up.  How do i set up the pro-sect to measure down appropriately so that the comes out correctly and isn't crooked?  Which way is down?

Once you have the pap you have to draw the VAL.  Are are a few ways to do this.  The easiest way is to decide what pin buffer you want to use (pin distance from VAL, on the pin up use around 2" on the pin down use 3 1/2")   draw a half circle 2" around the pin, then draw a line from the outside of the half circle through the PAP.  Now you have the VAL, reverse your PAP by going 1" down the VAL and then draw a perpendicular line (which is your centerline) mark 5 1/2 over and you have the center of your grip.

The other way is by using the Dual-Angle tech. by Mo Pinel.  here is a link for that
