God I'm throwing it terrible.....
« on: December 12, 2006, 03:53:13 PM »
Lately, my first flare ring or two have been tracking right through my middle finger and the leftside of my thumb and flaring off of them.  Silly question, but is there a quick fix pitch/span wise that will get me back on the leftside of the grip?  I'm thinking if I shift all my pitches about 3/16ths right it'd make me come around it more, but I was wondering with lateral pitch adjustments would it be a good idea to also adjust the span?  And if so, how much?

believe it or not....it might not be you!

try throwing some of you older equipment...look at the track.

today's weight blocks drillings can cause weird things w/your track.

I have two balls...(dif. companies/weightblocks)...drilled identical...weights/layouts...ect...1 tracks right along the edge of fingers/thumb....the other... 3 INCHES DOWN...I kid you not

Assymetrical equipment tends to bring your track down.  I'm only throwing symmetrical equipment now.  I think this can come from some of my pins not being in the flare safe zone for my track.  My PAP is nearly 6" right, no vertical.

I remember reading in the bill taylor book that one could adjust their pitches in order to raise/lower their tracks.  Off the top of my head, I can't remember which direction does which though (I do have the book in my office and will check).  My only concern would be the formation of sore spots/blisters from rubbing due to the pitch change.

Hell, I've got a different pap for every ball  throw. I wouldnt worry about it if it's only one ball. It could be the weight block or any number of things. When you start getting like me it's gets kinda tough to figure the layout, seeing that it could be any of the 5 different paps I have now!!

Increasing your lateral thumb pitch to the right will assist in getting your hand around the ball and lowering your track.  But as been mentioned, depending on your thumb hinge angles it may lead to blistering/callousing problems.  --  JohnP

I agree with John P.  That is the section of Bill Taylor's book where he did just that!  Went right 1/4 of an inch or one could try 1/8.

Only if this is extreme to ones anatomy and beveling using the MO Pinel methods can clear up a lot of side rubbing problems!

I'm blessed with a Mutant hand that can morph and confine to just about any pitch/span adjustment within reason without any rubbing or discomfort.  I'm going to throw an old ball I have in the house with the Mo Pinel "power performance fit" for awhile and see how that works for me again.  It felt a bit awkward but really did lower my track to where I needed it.

WHAT is your problem...you answered your own question...

"Assymetrical equipment tends to bring your track down."

So throw Assymetrical equipment and problem solved!

I've missed the "power performance fit" discussion in the past...

The link is where?

Thanks,..
