Same Ball...Two Different Layouts...Tell me about these two
« on: January 16, 2014, 10:14:58 PM »
Ok, so I was suggested these two layouts for a Hammer Vibe XR for AMF Syn that I have told have a slightly higher friction then let's say, a Brunswick Syn.

Me
PAP 4 7/8 up 3/4 off of spare ball
Speed 15.5 to 16.5 at release 14-15 at the backend
RMP's 225-240
Rotation 65-75
Tilt 20
Ave 190
Playing more up boards (10 board to 15 board as the night goes on)

Ball 1 specs are 14 lb 5 oz 2 1/8 Pin 2.75 Top
Suggested 60 x 4.5 x 70
Put's pin slightly left of ring finger and dangerously below ring finger...less then 1/2"
CG kicked out away from thumb
Suggested based on Pin and other Specs of ball 2

Ball 2 specs are 14 lb 5 oz. 3.5 pin 2.75 Top
Suggested 50 x 4.25 x 40 which should allow me to play straighter and still have continuation downlane was what I was told.

Thanks CliffBarnesProShop for those.

The conversation got a little long so I just want to ask the members here the final question on what I might see different from Ball 1 from what I was told on Ball 2.

Not ever owning a Pin Under Layout (and I think I know why, my rotation and tilt numbers) I really have no clue what and why this layout might work or what to see.

Ball specs for those that do not know are
Solid version of the First Blood Coverstock 500, 1000, 2000 Polished
Reaction: Length with Strong Backend
RG 2.51
Dif 0.039
Both off of 15 lb balls

Thanks

The first number for each layout is only relavant to where it puts the cg and static weight. Pin to pap is practically the same for each.

So if not adding or planning on adding an xhole look at it this way.

layout #1 60 x 4.25 x 70  vs   layout #2 60 x 4.25 x 40

Both will look very similar on most ths conditions. Layout 2 will be stronger down lane reacting quicker to friction then layout 1. Layout #1 will have a slower response to friction. Leaving surface on each the same and not adding an xhole to either I think you will be disappointed in the difference.

The ball is intended to go long and snap. Both balls will have plenty of length.

Thanks, so would Mo's Symm layouts like Pin beside ring finger with balance hole 1.5 down VAL seems better? Med Rev with Control be better for the 2 1/8 pin....as I might have to get rid of the other ball I just found out.

Yes I've used that style layout often. If you can get the cg down just below your center grip line to have a little thumb weight and a little positive side weight then you have plenty of xhole options.
