By that...I mean beveling out BOTH front of the thumb...(like WRWjr.)...and your finger's as well...
I'm talking deep grooves/bevels here!
Anybody tried it?

I haven't, but I'd like to know more about it. At the house in my hometown, there are some donated balls serving out the years as house balls, and one of these is a green Manhattan Rubber. The fingers and thumb are beveled in the way you describe. Either I can't bowl with a ball like that, or it's not close to what I'd need for a fit.
What's the purpose of drilling a ball this way? It would seem you wouldn't be able to get much lift on the ball if the finger holes didn't have some kind of lip on them.

The idea is to not have that much bevel, because it will probably cause you to squeeze the ball and so much for a relaxed arm swing! I think that it's a very bad idea, except for the case of maybe an older person with an injury that would require more bevel, but I believe in this case that would be excessive bevel. Just my $.02, Bruce

Possibly back in the day when they used super stretch grips, it lessened the strain & was for comfort. I saw some like that, but never tried it.
