Title: Sarge easter grip
Post by: BrokenBackswing on December 04, 2007, 12:50:45 PM
I recently injured my ring finger and I was thinking about trying sarge easter grip, and i was wondering if anyone on this board has tried it and what it has done to your tilt and rev rate.

I have not tried that grip but it will cut down on your rev rate.

It doesn't cut down on your rev rate once you get comfortable with it.  It cuts it down at first mostly because the bowler is scared their ring finger will hang in the ball, but once you get past it, your RR will return to normal.

I tried it a couple years ago in hopes that it would reduce my rev rate because I was seeing some very dry conditions and I didn't like standing in front of the ball return.  It didn't.  The only difference I saw was a reduction in axis rotation which was not what I was looking for.  Earlier roll was the last thing I needed at the time.  Good luck.

i tried it for 3 years and had great success with it it let me control the ball and yes i did limit my revs but that is what i needed due to my revs dominated my speed first night i tried it i shot 300

I use a Sarge Easter grip.. Been doing so for about 2 years now..
At first my revrate went down slightly but nothing significant.. Most important was the change in axis rotation, which was a good thing, and also part of my intentions with the grip..

Now more pain in my ringfinger..

Since i went down to 15 lbs in january i have developed a bit more tilt now..

its all about feel, if it feels good stick with it, dont be afraid to tweak it a couple times to get it right, also its going to have a drastic affect most likely on you pap so make sure u take that into account when building an arsenal
