Title: Scribe Recommendations?

I've been using a grease pencil to lay out bowling balls, and I'd like to try a scribe.  Dumb question, but are the scribes available from the bowling sites better than the ones at the hardware store?  Also, are any particular brands better than others?

I just had a guy locally make a couple for me...don't know what the details are but I love it on my equipment...it looks cool lol

Sorry for my ignorance, but how do lines make your grip feel more acurate?

Grease pencils or any writing instruments usually have thick line markings.  Also, the writing instruments may occasionally smudge, so by creating small 'scribes' on the ball, it reduces error and the frustration of re-measuring if anything gets smudged.  In essence, because the lines are a lot thinner, the driller can be more accurate.  You can simply use a mechanical pencil with a metal tip that does not retract back into the pencil.

Revolutions PS,

There are fine white grease pencils which make much thinner lines than the wide tipped yellow ones. Have you tried those? My guy, OJ, started using them a while back, maybe 6-8 months or so.
